SFAM1 & SFAM2 Absolute Draw-Wire Encoders

The SFAM1 and SFAM2 are absolute draw-wire encoders designed for long-range linear position measurement in industrial automation and motion control systems. They combine a compact draw-wire mechanism with an integrated absolute encoder to deliver accurate, repeatable position feedback over measuring lengths of up to 5 m (SFAM1) and 10 m (SFAM2). Their compact design also saves installation space and simplifies machine integration.

The encoders communicate through a high-speed SSI interface and support both binary and Gray code outputs. They provide resolution options down to 0.024 mm, allowing engineers to match performance to their application. In addition, the encoders support counting direction and preset functions, making system setup faster and more flexible.

The SFAM1 and SFAM2 deliver ±0.5 mm linearity and ±0.1 mm repeatability while supporting travel speeds up to 2 m/s. A durable stainless-steel measuring wire and rugged aluminum housing ensure long service life in demanding industrial environments. The encoders also offer M12, M23, or cable connections for easy integration with a wide range of control systems.

An IP65-rated housing protects the encoder from dust and water. It also withstands 100 g shock, 10 g vibration, and operating temperatures from –40°C to +85°C. These features make the SFAM1 and SFAM2 ideal for material handling equipment, lifting systems, automated storage, packaging machinery, cranes, industrial vehicles, and other applications that require reliable long-stroke position measurement.
