MDB28 magnetic rotary encoder

The MDB28/MDB31 is a compact board-level magnetic rotary encoder designed for servo motors, robotics, medical devices, and industrial automation. Its contactless magnetic sensing technology delivers reliable position feedback while eliminating mechanical wear. As a result, it provides long service life and consistent performance in demanding applications. The compact PCB design also makes installation fast and simple.

The encoder supports both incremental and absolute outputs. Available interfaces include Analog Sin/Cos, RS422 incremental, SSI, and BiSS-C. It also provides resolutions of up to 14 bits (16,384 positions per revolution), allowing accurate position and speed measurement. In addition, a 3600 CPR version is available for applications that require simplified angular calculations.

The MDB28/MDB31 operates from either a 5 VDC or 6.5–30 VDC power supply, depending on the model. It supports speeds from 20,000 to 120,000 RPM while maintaining ±0.5° accuracy. Furthermore, engineers can customize the PCB shape, size, and flange mounting to meet specific installation requirements.

The encoder operates in temperatures from –40°C to +125°C, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments. Therefore, the MDB28/MDB31 is an excellent choice for BLDC motors, servo systems, robotics, medical equipment, paper and textile machinery, and precision motion control applications where compact size and reliable feedback are essential.
