STD-37, a Statum Motion™ encoder for industrial automation.

STD-37 Absolute Optical Position Sensor

The STD-37 Absolute Optical Position Sensor from Statum Motion delivers high-resolution absolute position feedback for robotics, industrial automation, medical devices, semiconductor equipment, and precision motion control. Powered by Statum’s proprietary Duplus™ technology, it combines dual optical sensing heads with advanced signal processing to provide exceptional accuracy, built-in redundancy, and reliable performance in a remarkably compact design.

With a profile of only 8 mm, the STD-37 is ideal for space-constrained applications where precision and reliability are essential. Unlike conventional encoders, its contactless reflective optical sensing eliminates mechanical wear, extending service life while maintaining consistent performance over time.

The encoder delivers 18 to 22-bit absolute resolution with an impressive ±4 millidegree (mdeg) accuracy and ±1 count repeatability, ensuring highly accurate position measurement. In addition, its 20 µs data latency and maximum rotational speed of 5,000 RPM provide fast, real-time feedback for demanding closed-loop motion control systems.

Installation is both quick and flexible thanks to generous mechanical tolerances of ±0.4 mm radial runout and a 1.75 ± 0.5 mm air gap. Furthermore, every sensor is factory calibrated for off-axis performance, eliminating complex alignment procedures. Engineers can also configure the zero position, rotation direction, and other operating parameters using Statum Studio software.

Supporting both SSI and BiSS-C communication protocols, the STD-37 integrates easily with modern PLCs, servo drives, and motion controllers. Its operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C makes it suitable for demanding industrial and outdoor environments.
