AST 6 Standard Absolute Optical Encoder

The US Standard Absolute Optical Encoder delivers high-precision single-turn and multiturn position feedback for industrial automation, heavy machinery, robotics, and motion control systems. Designed with a rugged 65 mm die-cast housing, it provides reliable performance in demanding industrial environments while meeting common North American installation standards.

The encoder offers single-turn resolutions up to 18 bits (262,144 counts per revolution) and multiturn resolution up to 16 × 14 bits (65,536 counts per revolution × 16,384 turns). As a result, it provides accurate absolute position data immediately after power-up, eliminating homing procedures and improving machine productivity.

To simplify system integration, the encoder supports SSI, Bit Parallel, Push-Pull, and NPN output interfaces. In addition, it is available with M23 connectors, MIL connectors, MIL32 inline plugs, or cable output, making it compatible with a wide range of industrial control systems and OEM equipment. An optional BCD output code is also available for specialized applications.

Built for harsh operating conditions, the encoder features IP66 environmental protection, a durable die-cast metal housing, and shaft speeds up to 6,000 rpm. Consequently, it performs reliably in applications exposed to dust, moisture, vibration, and mechanical shock.
